Virginia (Banks) Hamblin, age 81, of Hayward, WI, died on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family.

Virginia Ruth Banks was born July 13, 1931 in Hayward, WI, the daughter of Harlan and Rose (Gehrts) Banks. She graduated from Hayward High School and was joined in marriage to Harley Hamblin on March 31st, 1951 in Hayward, WI. For a short time she moved to Los Angeles, CA while Harley served in the U.S. Marines. After Harley's time in the service they moved to Beloit, WI and then Janesville, WI before...

Virginia (Banks) Hamblin, age 81, of Hayward, WI, died on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family.

Virginia Ruth Banks was born July 13, 1931 in Hayward, WI, the daughter of Harlan and Rose (Gehrts) Banks. She graduated from Hayward High School and was joined in marriage to Harley Hamblin on March 31st, 1951 in Hayward, WI. For a short time she moved to Los Angeles, CA while Harley served in the U.S. Marines. After Harley's time in the service they moved to Beloit, WI and then Janesville, WI before returning to the Hayward area. Virginia worked as a waitress at Larson's Restaurant in Hayward and would work at the drive in theater during the summers. Virginia was very busy raising her six children on the farm. She was always working and enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, baking, cooking, rug making, sewing, canning and going berry picking with her children.

Virginia is survived by her children: Janet (John) Nurkala of Mason, WI, Bob (Cathy) Hamblin of Hayward, WI, Mark Hamblin of Hayward, Christine (Stanton) Knutson of Hayward, and Jeanette (Perry) Luedtke of Kewaskum, WI; eight grandchildren, Donald, Sarah, Jeff, Michael, Carl, Mitch, Kurt, and Rachel; one great grandchild, Quinn Virginia; three brothers, Ted Banks of Texas, Jim Banks of Cable, WI, Maurice Banks of Minnesota; three sisters-in-law, Rachel Hamblin of Hayward, Dorothy Kuta of Kenosha, WI, Wilma Hamblin of Oskosh and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harley; daughter, Lorraine; brother, Charles Banks; one infant brother, John David Banks; and one half sister, Mary Rose Scheldt.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, at Greenwood Cemetery in Cable, WI with Pastor Cathy Hamblin officiating.

Honorary bearers will be Virginia's grandchildren.
