Thomas T. Sroczynski, age 70, of Hayward, WI passed away peacefully at his home after a sixteen month fight with pancreatic cancer on Wednesday, September 4, 2013.

Thomas Teofil Sroczynski was born July 8, 1943 in Chicago, IL the son of Stanley and Phyllis (Kurowski) Sroczynski. Tom was raised in South Chicago and graduated from Bowen High School in 1961. During his teenage years he traveled the southwest part of the country assisting a veteran who had polio and was confined to a wheelchair. For three summers they visited Indian reservations and went as far as California then spending the rest of their summers in Missouri. This experience impacted him for the rest of his life. He went on to attend Business College where he received a degree in accounting. Tom's first job was in data processing in Chicago. From there he went to work for RR Donnelley in Chicago where he worked in Computer Services and as a control clerk. While working Tom went to beautician's school and then opened his own salons "Snippers" in the South Chicago suburbs. After selling his business, Tom became a salesman for Pulitzer Enterprises and sold advertising space for newspapers. He started coming to the Hayward area in 1971 and fell in love with the area, knowing this is where he wanted to live. Tom and his partner George bought an old farm house in1995 and after seven years of putting their hearts into remolding the home they moved to Hayward, WI in June of 2002. Tom was an active member of the Chequamegon Lions Club and the Moose Lake Improvement Organization where he served as treasurer for both groups. He volunteered for the Hayward Food Shelf and the Northwoods Humane Society. He enjoyed downhill skiing, snowmobiling, golfing, and senior league bowling. He was known for his abilities with a computer and was a "tech nut". He loved going to the theater and animals, especially his dog Taffy.

Tom is survived by his partner of 24 years, George Duewerth; one brother, Stanley Sroczynski of Lansing, IL; two sisters, Mildred Gobrewski and Lorraine Kirk, both of Chicago, IL; step children, Craig (Patti) Duewerth of Plainfield, IL, Dawn Kleefisch of Rutland, VT; and several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
