Ruth V. Pringle, 97 of Hayward, WI died July 23, 2011 at Sunset Senior Home in Hayward.

Ruth Vernette Grimstad was born March 6, 1914 in Westby, WI, the daughter of Nordahl and Emma (Lovstad) Grimstad. She graduated from Westby High School in 1931. She married William E. Pringle in 1931 in Waukesha, WI. Ruth and Williams then moved to the Hayward area in the 1934 and she was the last remaining original resident that had moved to Northwoods Beach, which was then called Boulevard. Ruth Vernette Grimstad was born March 6, 1914 in Westby, WI, the daughter of Nordahl and Emma (Lovstad) Grimstad. She graduated from Westby High School in 1931. She married William E. Pringle in 1931 in Waukesha, WI. Ruth and Williams then moved to the Hayward area in the 1934 and she was the last remaining original resident that had moved to Northwoods Beach, which was then called Boulevard. She was employed by the Jonjak family for many years, raising her two sons on her own after the death of her husband in 1942 due to complications arising from an injury while serving in World War 1.

Ruth is survived by loving sons Ronald (Elaine Erickson) Pringle, Mobridge, SD and Errol Pringle of Hayward, WI; brothers Leif Grimstad of Baraboo, WI: Stanley (Corrine) Grimstad of Madison, WI; a sister, Alta Schoen of Harford, WI; nine grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; brothers Erling and Arvid Grimstad; sisters Margie Borgne and Esther Larson; daughter-in-law, Margaret Pringle and a niece Debra (Pringle) VenJohn.

Ruth was a loving woman who was devoted to her family. She was brave, independent and a traditional Norwegian woman who baked and cooked marvelous meals. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading. We were all blessed to have her in our lives for these many years and our memories will continue to live on.

Funeral services for Ruth will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 27 at the Anderson-Nathan-Koerpel Funeral Home in Hayward, WI. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
