Rollin Swanson, age 60, of Hayward, WI passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at his home.

Rollin J. Swanson was born April 20, 1951 in Ishpeming, MI the son of Robert and Dorothy (Kumpula) Swanson. As a child Rollin moved to Hayward, WI with his family. He graduated from Hayward High School in 1969 and attended vocational technical schools in Wausau and Eau Claire to become a machinist. Rollin Swanson, age 60, of Hayward, WI passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at his home.

Rollin J. Swanson was born April 20, 1951 in Ishpeming, MI the son of Robert and Dorothy (Kumpula) Swanson. As a child Rollin moved to Hayward, WI with his family. He graduated from Hayward High School in 1969 and attended vocational technical schools in Wausau and Eau Claire to become a machinist. Rollin joined the National Guard and went to work for Xcel Energy (formerly Northern States Power) as an electrical lineman. He enjoyed his work, especially repairing lines when there was out of town storm trouble. On September 15, 1973 Rollin was joined in marriage to Pamela Nelson at First Lutheran Church in Hayward. Rollin continued his work with the electric company until his retirement in 2007. Rollin then started work on the grounds crew for Hayward Golf Course where he enjoyed the early mornings. Rollin was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed bow hunting for deer and turkey, shore fishing in Texas and just watching animals in nature. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Hayward.

Rollin is survived by his wife of 37 years, Pam; two children, Nicole (Craig) Schlapper of Hayward, Daniel P. Swanson of Spooner, WI; two grandchildren, Jace and Cade Schlapper; four brothers, John (Linda) Swanson of Hayward, Robert Jr. (Lee) of New Mexico, Donald (Mary) of Green Bay, WI; Rolf of Michigan; one sister, Ann Marie (Brett) Danielson of Hayward; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert and two grandsons, Drew and Dayne Schlapper.

A private family memorial service was held on Sunday, September 4, at First Lutheran Church in Hayward, WI.
