Roger A. Knudson, 77, of Hayward, left this life that he loved so much on Wednesday, September 26, 2012.

Roger Arnold Knudson was born January 14, 1935 in Minneapolis, MN to Arnold and Sophie (Carlson) Knudson. In his early teen years, he moved to Hayward to live with his Aunt Ovidia Brunette. He graduated from Hayward High School in 1953 and worked as a driver most of his life, driving locally and later as the owner/operator of his own semi truck and trailer. He drove over the road for over 30 years, much of that time driving between Superior, WI and the Northeast and Canada. Following his semi-retirement, he worked for Gillis Motors for several years.

Roger loved his family and friends, hunting, fishing, sports and traveling. He never lost his love of driving; he and his wife Carol traveled around the country with their RV whenever they could. He was well known for being the life of any party and everyone who knew him could recognize his whistle in a large crowd. He was considered a very honorable and honest man. He lived each day to the fullest.

He is survived by his wife Carol; four children, Brad Knudson, Brian (Jill) Knudson, Colleen (Bruce) Berg and Mickey Knudson; four step-children, Troy Morgan, Brett (Cherie) Morgan, Scott Morgan and Kelly (Brett) Poppe; grandchildren, Bradley, McKayla, Shelby, Ethan, Ashley and Nick; three step-grandchildren, Jackson, Tanner and Trevor; two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Tyler, sister, Jackie, and many nieces and nephews.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents.

A Memorial Service for Roger will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 6, at First Lutheran Church in Hayward with Pastor Scott Ludford officiating. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at a later time in the Greenwood Cemetery in Hayward.

Honorary Bearers will be Rick Anderson, Bill Cronin, Dick Gillis, Jeff Gillis, Mark Koger, and Ward Williamson.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Community of Friends for Hayward Hospital or Hayward Regional Hospice or First Lutheran Church of Hayward.
