Robert L. Tuttle, age 73, of Barnes, WI and formerly of Minneapolis, MN passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at his home.

Robert Lewis Tuttle was born November 17, 1938 in Minneapolis, MN the son of George and Dorothy (Turner) Tuttle. He was raised in Minneapolis and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1956 where he was a member of the state champion basketball team. Robert L. Tuttle, age 73, of Barnes, WI and formerly of Minneapolis, MN passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at his home.

Robert Lewis Tuttle was born November 17, 1938 in Minneapolis, MN the son of George and Dorothy (Turner) Tuttle. He was raised in Minneapolis and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1956 where he was a member of the state champion basketball team. Bob was accepted at the University of Minnesota where he earned his Associate in Arts degree in 1960. After schooling Robert joined the U.S. Marine Corp where he served his country was honorably discharged. Upon his discharge from the Marines, Robert moved back to Minneapolis where he went to work with his father and brother at Hiawatha Lanes and then Stardust Lanes in Minneapolis. Bob ran these businesses with his family, eventually becoming the sole proprietor. In 1991, he continued to grow the business with the purchase of Elsie's Restaurant, Bar and Bowling Center, where his sons, Tim and Mike joined the business. While operating the bowling centers Bob was active with the Minnesota Bowlers Proprietors Association, becoming state president in 1978. He was also a television commenter on Bowl a Rama and Bowling for Dollars. He was inducted to the American Bowling Congress Hall of Fame in 2005. Bob moved to Barnes, WI in 2008 where he worked and entertained at the Windsor Super Club.

Throughout Bob's life he enjoyed all forms of sports and was a natural athlete. He was active in bowling leagues and loved to golf. He liked to spend his summer weekends at cabins of family (Bay Lake) and friends where he could go boating. Bob's favorite passion in his life was his music. He had an amazing ear and could pick up any tune and play it, sitting behind the microphone at his organ. He loved most sharing his passion for music with his family and friends singing, dancing, and laughing. He had a playful spirit that showed itself in magic tricks for the kids, or in one of his many side bets with family and friends.

Robert was a member of the Minneapolis American Legion Post #1 for 18 years and the Riverview Lions Club.

Robert is survived by his soul mate, Nancy Lindberg of Barnes, WI; Mary Kaye Tuttle of Edina, MN and children Patti Tuttle of Edina, MN, Bob Jr. (Karie) Tuttle of Eden Prairie, MN, Tim (Gretchen) Tuttle of Deephaven, MN, Mike (Heidi) Tuttle of Shorewood, MN; and Leah Tuttle of Las Vegas, NV and child Joshua Tuttle of Mankato, MN; twelve grandchildren, Mike, Alex, Sam, Bobby, Jack, Megan, Erin, Paige, Frank, Stella, Henry and Ruby; one brother, Dick (Jean) Tuttle of Minneapolis, MN; one sister, Connie (Hal) Olson of Lakeville, MN; and two nieces, Michele Skjei and Renee Sadek.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of remembrance of Bob's life will begin at 4:30 pm, followed by a reception until 8pm, on Tuesday, June 26th at Elsie's Restaurant, Bar and Bowling Center, 729 Marshall Street NE, Minneapolis, MN.
