Robert Hedman, age 86, passed away peacefully at home on April 21, 2014.

Bob was born April 9, 1928 in Prentice, Wisconsin, the son of Ed and Mae (Garlock) Hedman. He was a graduate of Necedah (Wisconsin) High School and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Bob was a teacher for thirty-six years before retiring in 1988. He served as principal of Town View Grade School in Beloit, Wisconsin, for several years. He then went to Janesville Parker High School in Janesville, Wisconsin, where he was a Special Education teacher for twenty-five years.

Bob was born April 9, 1928 in Prentice, Wisconsin, the son of Ed and Mae (Garlock) Hedman. He was a graduate of Necedah (Wisconsin) High School and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Bob was a teacher for thirty-six years before retiring in 1988. He served as principal of Town View Grade School in Beloit, Wisconsin, for several years. He then went to Janesville Parker High School in Janesville, Wisconsin, where he was a Special Education teacher for twenty-five years.

He was also employed during the summer months as a supervisor for Libby Canning Company in Janesville. He worked for Libby's for thirty-one years.
Bob was a veteran, serving in the Army in Panama from 1946 to 1948.

Bob was a retired member of the Wisconsin Education Association and the National Education Association. He had been a member of First Lutheran Church, Hayward, Wisconsin since moving to Hayward in 1989.

His many hobbies included reading, and he took pride in maintaining a well-manicured yard and many beautiful flower gardens. Bob was an avid sports fan, especially of all Wisconsin teams, including the Packers, Badgers, Brewers, and Bucks.

On January 8, 1950, he married Dorothy M. Stevens in Arkdale, Wisconsin. They lived in Janesville for thirty-six years before retiring on Beaver Lake in Hayward.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy and sons Robert Jr. (Terry) of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Steven (Qun) of Hayward, Greg (Marian) of Shoreview, Minnesota, and Terry of Machesney Park, Illinois, and daughter, Lori (Steve) Terwileger, of Osseo, Wisconsin; ten grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren, and two step great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Donald and Alan, and one dog that will miss him dearly. His parents preceded him in death.

Private visitation was held at Nathan-Anderson Funeral Home in Hayward on April 23, 2014 with cremation following the ceremony.
