Richard L. Hawes Sr. of Hayward WI, passed away unexpectedly on July 16, 2013 in Eau Claire WI surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born in 1932 in New Bedford, MA to Thomas and Mildred Hawes. He was the oldest of 3 children.

Richard L. Hawes Sr. of Hayward WI, passed away unexpectedly on July 16, 2013 in Eau Claire WI surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born in 1932 in New Bedford, MA to Thomas and Mildred Hawes. He was the oldest of 3 children.
Rusty graduated from New Hartford High School in 1950 and graduated from Clemson University in1955. He married Beverly Kolb, his high school sweetheart, August 21st 1954. Following college he served in the US Army for 2 years. He worked for the Eastman Chemical Division of Kodak for more than 30 years in the Chicago area. While living in the Chicago area he was an active member of the Chicago Drug and Chemical Association and president of the Chicago Paint and Coatings Association. Upon retirement he and Beverly moved to Hayward WI. Here he was an active member of the Sawyer County Lakes Forum, Rotary of Hayward and Spider Lake Senior Center. He was also named a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International. During the warmer months Rusty and Bev enjoyed fishing, boating, and spending time at their cabin on Little Spider Lake. During the winter months the couple would spend several months in Coco Beach, FL. They enjoyed meeting up with old friends from the Chicago area.
Richard is survived by his wife Beverly, sister Sally Peterson; children Wendy Dewar (Rick), Richard L Hawes Jr. (Jane), Shelley Hawes and Nancy Ilar; grandchildren Jennifer, Margaret, Kaitlin Dewar and Emma and Colin Hawes and Jasmine and Chaney Ilar. He is preceded in death by his parents, and sister Nancy Blumenstock and grandson Richard A. Dewar.
A time of gathering with family and friends will be held from 12:00 p.m.- 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 21st 2013 with a memorial service at 2:00 p.m., at the Spider Lake Church with Pastor Gary Hilgendorf officiating.
