Mildred Nilson, age 98, a resident of Hayward, died on Monday, August 1, 2011 at her home.
Mildred Rosalie Lindstrom was born on March 1, 1913, in Chicago, Illinois to parents Charles and Rosalie (Anderson) Lindstrom. She grew up in Chicago and moved to Round Lake near Hayward in 1958. In 1962, she moved to Montclair, New Jersey, until 1972, when she returned to her home on Round Lake. In 1984, she moved to Golf, Illinois, and finally moved back to Hayward in 1999 and moved to the City of Hayward but kept visiting...

Mildred Nilson, age 98, a resident of Hayward, died on Monday, August 1, 2011 at her home.
Mildred Rosalie Lindstrom was born on March 1, 1913, in Chicago, Illinois to parents Charles and Rosalie (Anderson) Lindstrom. She grew up in Chicago and moved to Round Lake near Hayward in 1958. In 1962, she moved to Montclair, New Jersey, until 1972, when she returned to her home on Round Lake. In 1984, she moved to Golf, Illinois, and finally moved back to Hayward in 1999 and moved to the City of Hayward but kept visiting her home on Round Lake. Mildred was a kind and compassionate person with worldwide friends whom she kept contact with by sending notes and cards. She was an outdoorswoman, but especially loved golf. Mildred was a member of the First Congregational Church in Hayward.
Mildred was a fun loving, people person with a quick smile and story to tell. She always was very interested in each and every one of her family and kept close contact with all. She will be sincerely missed.
Mildred is survived by her daughter Marietta Lee (Rony) de Leon of Hayward, WI, grandchildren: Patricia Espat of Albuquerque, NM, Marietta (Herbert) Sundfeld of Guatemala, Rony (Lucrecia) de Leon of Duluth, GA, David (Tracy) de Leon of Madison, WI, Daniel (Diurby) de Leon of Honduras, Carin (Carlos) Spengler of Guatemala, Carlos de Leon of Hayward, WI, Susanna (Guillermo) Carbonell of Guatemala, 16 great grandchildren, her great great grandchildren, and many other extended family.
Mildred is preceded in death by her parents, husbands: Val Pearson, James Carpenter, Alfred Nilson, and brother Carl Stanley Carlson.
Funeral services for Mildred Nilson will be held on Friday, August 5, 2011, at 11 am, at the First Congregational Church with Pastor David Benson officiating. Music will be provided by organist Charlene Murdock and soloist Annette Hagberg. Visitation will be held on Friday from 10- 11 am at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to either the Salvation Army or the American Red Cross in Mildred's name.
