Margaret L. Fay, 86, of Hayward passed away Tuesday, April 3 at Care Partners Assisted Living.

Margaret Lorraine Fay was born September 29, 1925 in Hancock, WI the daughter of Fred and Gertrude (Powell) Marshall. She was raised and worked on her families' farm. Margaret attended school in Hancock and then went to work as a babysitter and helping her mother after her father's early death. On September 11, 1942 Margaret was joined in marriage to Howard M. Fay in Columbus, WI. Together they lived in Columbus and worked in Madison at Oscar Mayer...

Margaret L. Fay, 86, of Hayward passed away Tuesday, April 3 at Care Partners Assisted Living.

Margaret Lorraine Fay was born September 29, 1925 in Hancock, WI the daughter of Fred and Gertrude (Powell) Marshall. She was raised and worked on her families' farm. Margaret attended school in Hancock and then went to work as a babysitter and helping her mother after her father's early death. On September 11, 1942 Margaret was joined in marriage to Howard M. Fay in Columbus, WI. Together they lived in Columbus and worked in Madison at Oscar Mayer Company. In 1963 Margaret and Howard moved to Hayward, WI where she worked for area resorts and then at the Ben Franklin Store on main street. Margaret enjoyed taking walks, golfing, snowmobiling and gardening. She will be remembered as a strong and independent woman by her family.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Karen (Jack) Land of Hayward; four grandchildren, Chip Holcomb, Joe (Ashley) Land, Angie (Michael Nichols Sr.) Holcomb, Ashley (Daniel) Hahn, all of Hayward; six great grandchildren, Misty Holcomb, Linda Holcomb, Darrin Krajenka Jr., Kaylee Amundson, Mikey Nichols Jr., Zandra Land, with Aroura Land on the way; three step grandchildren, Lisa (Jason) Turnbull of Hayward, Dena (Dale) Schaffer of Drummond, WI, Mindy (Fred) Slaton of New Auburn, WI; seven step great grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Frank (Donna) Fay, Arden (Lucille) Fay; two sisters-in-law, Blanche Kircher, Betty (Jerry) Gutske; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard; one daughter, Carol Ahrenkiel; five sisters, Helen Pomering, Beulah Meserevy, Nellie Fornasiere, Violet Dueysen, Marie Marshall; two brothers, Wilmer and Jesse Marshall.

Funeral Services for Margaret will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 9 at Anderson-Nathan-Koerpel Funeral Home in Hayward with Pastor Gary Hilgendorf officiating. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Hayward.

Casket bearers will be Joe Land, Dan Hahn, Mike Nichols, Chip Holcomb, Buzz Holcomb and Mark Kircher.

Honorary bearers will be Jack Land, Arden Fay and Frank Fay.
