While growing up, Mae worked with her parents with management of local resorts and private estates in the Hayward area. On January 27, 1951 Mae married Bob Olson. Bob and Mae owned and operated Bob Olson's Indoor and Outdoor Advertising in Hayward for over 50 years. Gardening, cooking caring for others and managing Olson Apartments with Bob gave Mae a very active and happy life. Mae enjoyed the beauty of the northwoods with Bob, they also appreciated a variety of other climatic environments, often splitting time between Hayward, Stewart, Florida, and Pahrump, Nevada. Bob and Mae were members at First Lutheran Church in Hayward until moving permanently to Pahrump, Nevada. Mae loved spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In July, 2011 Mae lost Bob after 60 years of marriage. Recently, she was living in Atlanta, GA with her son Mike and living an active life.
