Lorraine May Whyte, age 92 of Hayward, WI died Thursday, March 22, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospice in Duluth, MN surrounded by her family.
Lorraine was born July 24, 1919 in Bruce, WI the daughter of Herbert & Blanche (Cagley) Campbell.
She attended school in Bruce where she graduated in 1937. After graduation, she attended Paul's Academy of Beauty in Minneapolis, MN and received a license in Cosmetology in both Wisconsin and Minnesota. Lorraine May Whyte, age 92 of Hayward, WI died Thursday, March 22, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospice in Duluth, MN surrounded by her family.
Lorraine was born July 24, 1919 in Bruce, WI the daughter of Herbert & Blanche (Cagley) Campbell.
She attended school in Bruce where she graduated in 1937. After graduation, she attended Paul's Academy of Beauty in Minneapolis, MN and received a license in Cosmetology in both Wisconsin and Minnesota. She worked in Minneapolis for one year before she married Riley B. Whyte of Exeland, Wisconsin, on November 16, 1940 in Whiting, Indiana. The couple resided in Chicago for one year and also in Bruce, WI for one year before moving to Exeland, WI where they lived for twenty years at Windfall Farm. During this time, their three children were born and Lorraine opened the Exeland Beauty Shop. They moved to Hayward in 1962 where Riley owned and operated an insurance agency and Lorraine originated and operated the Town & Country Beauty Salon for 13 years.
She was a past worthy Matron of Hayward Chapter #210 Order of Eastern Star, Past President of the First Lutheran Church Altar Guild in Hayward, Past President of Hayward Antique Club, Charter Member of Hayward Friends of the Library in Hayward, Past member of Women of the Moose Chapter 815 in Cape Coral, Florida, a past member of the Fort Myers Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 31, an Associate member of Messiah Lutheran Church of North Ft. Myers, Florida, and presently a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hayward.
Among those who survive and gratefully shared her life are her three children: Sandra (Donald) Schlei of Sheboygan, WI, Jill (David) Roehl of Hayward, WI, and Robert (Patti) Whyte of Hayward, WI, nine grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Riley in 2002, and sisters June Barness and Marilyn Scott.
Lorraine's memory will be cherished and her life celebrated at a Memorial service at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 26, 2012 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Hayward, WI with Pastor Tony Stautenburg officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Hayward, WI.
