Leonard J. Sheehan, 69, of Hayward died November 8, 2011 at Water's Edge Care Center, Hayward, WI.

Leonard James Sheehan was born March 2, 1942 in Town of Rusk, Burnett County, to Jerry Roy and Annabelle (Lawrence) Sheehan. He attended grade school in the Town of Scott, and Spooner High School. After school, Leonard served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard. Leonard worked as a mechanic at the local bus garage and later at the B&W Chevrolet Garage and then later as a mechanic at several snowmobile dealers in the area where he also raced snowmobiles. His most enjoyable work was when he was logging, in which he would say he would do full time if he ever won the lottery. He also enjoyed the outdoors where he hunted, and could watch the variety of wildlife out his window such as sand hill cranes, turkeys, and deer. Leonard also enjoyed his horses and played Cowboy Polo at Mroteks. In his later years, he was a Stihl safety instructor, transporting livestock to North and South Carolina, and also sharing his knife collection and talking about the old days with his family.

Leonard is survived by his loving wife, Donna; four sons, Leonard Jr. (Sandy), David (Cindy), Phillip (Wanda) all of Hayward, and Randy of Minneapolis, MN; three daughters, Rhonda (Bill) Rady of Hayward, WI, Sherry (Robert) Buttron of Chicago, IL, and Beth Sheehan, of Thief River Falls, MN; 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Raymond (Carol), Donald (Sandy), Rick (Gloria), all of Hayward; two sisters, Marcy (Jerry) Johnson of Fall Creek, WI, Helen (Ed) Hamlet of Hayward. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother Annabelle in 1984, his father Jerry Roy in 1993 and one grandson, Leonard Del, in 1984.

Funeral services for Leonard Sheehan were held on Friday, November 11, 2011, at 11 am, at the First Congregational Church in Hayward with Pastor David Benson officiating. Music was provided by organist Charlene Murdock and soloist Annette Hagberg. Visitation was held on Thursday from 5-8pm at the Anderson Nathan Koerpel Funeral Home and also one hour prior to the funeral at the Church. Interment followed the funeral at the Earl Cemetery. Casket bearers were Leslie Asp, Carl Farley, Tim Hagberg, Dale Lester, Robert Olson, and Steve Snider.
