Lanice Grace (Cardwell) Fuhrman, 80, passed away peacefully of natural causes with family by her side on Sunday, January 29th at Luther Hospital, Eau Claire, WI. Lanice was born on January 13, 1932 in Chicago, IL to the late Lannie and Muriel Cardwell. She met Richard Fuhrman in front of a candy store in Chicago and would tell her children "it was love at first sight." She and Richard married on July 1, 1949 in Chicago, IL. They raised their growing family in Geneva, IL for 32 years. They moved to Winter, WI in April 1982 to operate East Fork Resort. It was a perfect occupation for Lanice, who positively loved visiting with all of the people who stayed at the resort. Lanice enjoyed rock hunting, fishing, hunting, reading, camping, sitting by the campfire, drinking coffee on the dock, wilderness canoeing, volleyball, cards, and hosting parties and holidays with her family. She loved to gleefully rub it in when she beat her daughters in a game of Scrabble or her husband in a game of rummy. She greatly enjoyed spending time showing her children and grandchildren how to catch big fish and would often scatter agates in the driveway so her grandchildren could find them. Lanice will be remembered for her tender heart and kindness with never a bad word said to anyone. She had a deep love and devotion to her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Richard of 62 years and will be sadly missed by him and her six children: Judith (Gary) Meador of Mountain Home, Arkansas; Janice (Thomas) Jahn, St. Charles, IL; Richard (Renee) Fuhrman, Winter, WI; Patricia (Michael) Sanchez, Winter, WI; Jeanne (James) Carlson, Osseo, WI; and Barbara (Robert) Thidemann, Thorp, WI; 15 grandchildren: Marisa, Robert, Michael, Laura, Melissa, Jessica, Kristi, Matthew, Ashton, Daniel, Justin, Madeline, Ryan, Holly, Caden; and 7 great grandchildren: Mikayla, Deven, Nicholas, Rydar, Lana, Skylar, Daniel (and one pending). She is also survived by her sister, Virginia Dezell, Duck Hill, MS and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and great grandson "baby Kevy".
