Faith Gaynell Higginson Sitte was born on December 5, 1925, in Englewood, Colorado the daughter of Cecil Rex and Alice May Curry Higginson. Faith was baptized and joined the Englewood Methodist Episcopal Church on Palm Sunday, April 10, 1938. Faith attended Englewood Hawthorne Elementary School and graduated from Englewood Jr/Sr High School in June of 1942. She held several credits in food service orientation from the Wisconsin Institute of Technology Institute. Faith Gaynell Higginson Sitte was born on December 5, 1925, in Englewood, Colorado the daughter of Cecil Rex and Alice May Curry Higginson. Faith was baptized and joined the Englewood Methodist Episcopal Church on Palm Sunday, April 10, 1938. Faith attended Englewood Hawthorne Elementary School and graduated from Englewood Jr/Sr High School in June of 1942. She held several credits in food service orientation from the Wisconsin Institute of Technology Institute. She worked at By-4-Less Drug store and also Montgomery Ward Mail Order before marrying Robert William Sitte, Cpl. in the U.S. Army stationed at Fitzsimons General Hospital in Denver, Colorado on December 1, 1944. After Robert's discharge, the couple lived at Lake Benton, MN, and then moved to Winter, WI, where they farmed together for 10 years. She transferred her membership to the United Presbyterian Church in the United States of America in Winter, Wisconsin on April 11, 1971 and was ordained as a ruling elder on February 6, 1972. Mr. Sitte went sailing on the Great Lakes Ore Freighters while Faith and the children continued farming. Faith also worked as a waitress and cook at several local businesses including Lakewood Hotel, Wannigan Resort, Blaisdell Lake Resort, Barnaby's Restaurant, Rainbow Lodge, and the Winter School Kitchen from which she retired from after 18 years of School Food Service on June 2, 1988. Faith was a past member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 303- Wacek- Slattery post in Winter, Wisconsin and served as secretary, 1st Vice President, and President. She also served as President of the Sawyer County American Legion Auxiliary, Historian and Chaplain of the 12th District American Legion, and also was the Chairman of the Ways and Means for the Badger Girls State for Unit 303. Currently she was an auxillary member of the John Harold Buckley American Legion Unit #32 in Longmont, CO.
Faith died on Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at the age of 86.
She is survived by her children: Robert (Linda) of Mukwonago, WI, Steven (Kathy) of Park Falls, WI, John of Winter, WI, Kevin of Firestone, Colorado, Lynn Sitte of Park Falls, WI, 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, sister-in-law Eathel Higginson of Englewood, CO, many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
Faith was preceded in death by her husband Robert "Stub" in 2006, son Scott in 2005, parents, four sisters- Lois Mock, Laura Higginson, Bertha Higginson, Donna Yates, and one brother Cecil Andrew Higginson.
