Earl J. Clifford Sr., age 68, of Hayward, WI passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at his home.

Earl John Clifford was born June 25, 1943 in Oak Park, IL the son of Earl F. and Catherine L. (Callaghan) Clifford. Earl graduated from high school in Wauconda, IL and went to work for his parents at their bakery. Earl took a job as a truck driver for Hartwig Transit where he transported mail until an injury at work caused him to become disabled. On November 28, 1964 Earl was joined in marriage...

Earl J. Clifford Sr., age 68, of Hayward, WI passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at his home.

Earl John Clifford was born June 25, 1943 in Oak Park, IL the son of Earl F. and Catherine L. (Callaghan) Clifford. Earl graduated from high school in Wauconda, IL and went to work for his parents at their bakery. Earl took a job as a truck driver for Hartwig Transit where he transported mail until an injury at work caused him to become disabled. On November 28, 1964 Earl was joined in marriage to Evelyn Mould at Transfiguration Catholic Church in Wauconda, IL. Earl and Evelyn remained in Wauconda until 1979 when they moved to Hayward, WI where Earl would work part time as a bartender. Earl was a loving father and mentor to his five children and grandchildren. Throughout Earl's life he enjoyed fishing, boating, vegetable gardening, and socializing with his friends and family. He had a passion for cooking and will be remembered for his fresh homemade bread, potato salad and stuffed green peppers.

Earl is survived by his wife of 46 years, Evelyn; his four children, Earl Jr. (Linda) Clifford of Hayward, WI, Michelle (Dave Manske) Clifford of Port Washington, WI, Catherine (Mike Wera) Clifford of Hayward, WI, Kevin (Lori) Clifford, Hayward, WI; fourteen grandchildren, Michael, Amanda, Kali, Cody, Kyle, Haley, Kiersten, Taylor, Dakota, Kallen, Darren, Jeramiah, Sabrina and Josie; three brothers, Thomas (Linda) of Savannah, GA, Robert (Cindy) of Long Island, NY, Daniel of Rockford, IL; one sister, Mary Gilbert of Rockford, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Julia Clifford, one granddaughter, Hope Angela Clifford-Manning; and one sister, Sharon Gilbert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hayward with Father Phillip Juza officiating. A time of gathering with family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Hayward.

Casket bearers will be Al Butterbaugh, Michael Gilbert, Christ Headley, Pat manning, Dave Manske, and Michael Wera.
