Dorothy Jean Staub, 67, of Hayward, Wisconsin passed away after a long illness on February 21, 2013 at Bethesda Hospital, St. Paul, Minnesota.

Dorothy Jean Barber was born on June 6, 1945 to Dan and Lena Barber, Hayward. Dorothy graduated in 1963 from Hayward High School and later that year married her high school sweetheart, Marshall Staub. During high school Dorothy worked at Inhoff Drugs, and in the years to follow she worked for John Duffy, Sawyer County Nursing office, UW Extension Office, and retired in 2009 from the Sawyer County Register of Deeds office. Dorothy was a lifetime member of the First Lutheran Church in Hayward where she made many friends over the years.

Dorothy was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law and friend. She had a very close group of lifelong friends that she spent time with shopping and taking walks. Dorothy enjoyed reading, listening to music, and spending quiet time at her home in Seeley, where she lived for 30 years. She was very proud of her two grandsons and always enjoyed spending time with them and watching them play sports. Dorothy was a very kind and gentle soul who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by all who knew her.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Marshall Staub, parents Dan and Lena Barber, and infant brother Larry Alan Barber. She is survived by her only child Heather (Tom) Liddicoat, son-in-law Tom Liddicoat, two grandsons, Jim and Tyler Liddicoat, brothers Dennis (Ginny) Barber, Duane (Barbara) Barber, Jim (Joanne) Barber, sister in-law, Marcia Smith, brother in-law, Doug Staub, 15 nieces and nephews, several cousins, and many loving family and friends.

Special thanks and appreciation go out to the family, friends, and neighbors who helped care for Dorothy over the past several months. Thank you to the doctors and caring nursing staff at Essentia Health, Duluth, and Bethesda Hospital,
St. Paul.

A service and luncheon is being planned for 11:00 a.m., Saturday April 20, 2013 at the First Lutheran Church, Pastor Scott Ludford presiding. There will be a time of visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Hayward Greenwood Cemetery.
