Dorothy "Sunny" Danielson, 84, of Hayward, WI and formerly of Chicago, IL went home to meet her Lord and Savior Monday, November 19, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family.

Dorothy Jane Danielson was born September 14, 1928 in Cloquet, MN, the daughter of Erland and Impi (Anderson) Sunnaborg. Dorothy graduated from Cloquet High School and went on to graduate from St. Luke's Nursing School in Duluth, MN in 1949. She worked as a surgical supervisor and in hospital administration. Dorothy "Sunny" Danielson, 84, of Hayward, WI and formerly of Chicago, IL went home to meet her Lord and Savior Monday, November 19, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family.

Dorothy Jane Danielson was born September 14, 1928 in Cloquet, MN, the daughter of Erland and Impi (Anderson) Sunnaborg. Dorothy graduated from Cloquet High School and went on to graduate from St. Luke's Nursing School in Duluth, MN in 1949. She worked as a surgical supervisor and in hospital administration. On April 6, 1986 Dorothy was joined in marriage to Robert Danielson in Chicago, IL.

While living in Chicago, she enjoyed sailing with Bob on their sailboat and going to Cubs games. They also had season tickets to the Chicago Symphony and she volunteered as a guide at the Chicago Art Institute. Dorothy and Bob also served on the board of Lutheran Brotherhood. Dorothy was active in Christian Women's Club and in 1996 was named Volunteer of the Year by the Sawyer County unit of The American Cancer Society.

If you met Dorothy, she would tell you in the first five minutes of her love of Jesus and that she was licensed in seven states as an RN.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Bob of Hayward; children Kathleen (Mark) Kelly of Duluth, MN, Kristi (Gordon) Adell of Chicago, IL, Karen (Mark) Hutchison of Morton, IL, Jonathan (Cathy) Nordstrom of Williston, TN, and Jayson (Krystyna) Nordstrom of Chicago, IL; step-daughters Debra (Dennis) Sedlicki of Bartlet, IL, Phyllis (Raymond) Krug of Peachtree City, GA and Jeanette Ramerez of Chicago, IL; 14 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Kathleen (Arnold) Ahlgren of Hayward, Shirley (Harold) Myrmel of Bloomington, MN; brothers Arnold (Ruth) Sunnaborg of Esko, MN, Earl (Shirley) Sunnaborg of Hibbing, MN, Tom (Yvonne) Sunnaborg of Bemidji, MN and her sister-in-law Marion Sunnaborg of Tempe, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughters Sharon and Susan; a brother Howard Sunnaborg; a sister and brother-in-law Verna and Kenneth Hendrickson.

A funeral service for Dorothy will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, November 23, 2012 at Peace Lutheran Church in Hayward with Pastor Nathan Radke officiating. Burial will take place in the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI.
