Donald Krug, age 68, of Hayward, died peacefully at his home on Monday, July 25, 2011, surrounded by his wife Mary Ann and friends.

Donald Robert Krug was born on November 22, 1942, in Oak Park, IL, to parents Edwin and Emily (Nielson) Krug. After graduating from high school, Donald joined the Army, where he defended his country in Viet Nam, and earned the Purple Heart for his services. Donald's bigger fight came throughout his long battle with cancer, yet he never lost his faith in God, his sense of humor, his fishing skills, or his love of playing the lottery. No matter what happened, Donald had a way, with his big smile and gentle nature, to make everyone who came into his life feel just a little bit more comfortable.

Donald is survived by his loving wife Mary Ann, his brother Edwin (Burget) Krug, one nephew Edwin L. (Mellisa) Krug, one niece Barbara (Marc) Carlson, two great nieces Zoe and Zia, four step children, five grandchildren, and many friends.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents.
