David "Snowball" Williamson, 75, of Hayward WI, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at home surrounded by his family.
David was born on February 26, 1938 in Hayward, WI the son of Clyde & Janet (Larson) Williamson. He graduated from Hayward High School in 1956. He was united in marriage to Barbara Dieckman on November 21, 1959 in Hayward, WI. He joined the Army National Guard in 1955, spent one year in Fort Lewis during the Berlin Crisis and retired after 21 years of service.
He worked at Hayward Lumber before he learned to process meat at Simmon's Grocery of Hayward. Later he managed the meat department at A&P of Hayward and continued on to Link Brothers of Minong, where he processed and distributed meat. In 1979, Dave and Barb purchased the Park Theatre and managed it for 22 years. He then started in real estate in 1983 for Risberg's Realty. He was employed for Area North Realty until he passed away. Snowball dearly enjoyed his job and the people he worked with in the business.
Snowball was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church. He was raised a Master Mason at Keystone Lodge #263 F&AM. Dave was also a member of the ZOR Shrine and Scottish Rite. He enjoyed cutting grass, shoveling snow, watching the Packers, hunting, fishing and playing cards with his family. He loved to help out anyone in any way he could. He visited the hospital and the nursing homes weekly. While going out of his way to take care of others, he knew how to make people laugh and loved his family with all his heart.
Dave is survived by his wife, Barb; his son Jeff (Carol); Tina (Mike); grandchildren, Kyle (Mandi), Megan, Claire and Melinda; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Derek; his parents Clyde & Janet Williamson; and brothers Warner & Rolf.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 28 at Hayward Wesleyan Church in Hayward, WI with Pastor Tony Stoutenburg officiating. A time of visitation will be held at Anderson-Nathan-Koerpel Funeral Home from 4:00-7:00 p.m., on Friday, September 27 with a Masonic Service to be held at 7:00 p.m. There will also be a visitation time one hour prior to the service at the church. Lunch will be served following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hayward Regional Hospice or an educational scholarship in memory of Snowball.
Private interment at Hayward Greenwood Cemetery will be at a later date.
