Bernice E. Seffinga, age 79, of Lemington, WI, passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake, WI.

Bernice Evangeline was born April 18, 1933 in Lemington, WI the daughter of Charles and Ruth (Clarke) Ortwig. She was raised in the Lemington area on the family farm. On June 10, 1950 Bernice was joined in marriage to Michael Seffinga in Exeland, WI. Together they moved to Zion, IL in 1959 where Bernice was a busy mother with her five children. Bernice E. Seffinga, age 79, of Lemington, WI, passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake, WI.

Bernice Evangeline was born April 18, 1933 in Lemington, WI the daughter of Charles and Ruth (Clarke) Ortwig. She was raised in the Lemington area on the family farm. On June 10, 1950 Bernice was joined in marriage to Michael Seffinga in Exeland, WI. Together they moved to Zion, IL in 1959 where Bernice was a busy mother with her five children. Once the children were older Bernice went to work for Abbott Laboratories in North Chicago. She then took a position as a preschool and kindergarten teacher at the Zion Christian School. In 2002, Bernice moved back to Lemington, WI to assist in the care of a family member. She was active with the Meteor Hills Bible Church and the Meteor Hills Food Pantry. Bernice enjoyed baking, sewing, knitting, cooking, gardening, children and making others happy with all of her many gifts and goodies. She loved to serve and help others, but most of all she loved her Lord Jesus and lived her life as a witness for him.

Bernice is survived by her five children, Rocky (Cathy) Seffinga, Robert (Deborah) Seffinga, James (Barbara) Seffinga, Jeannie Seffinga, Debbie (Robert) Leavitt; 18 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; one sister, Mariam Beyreis; one sister-in-law, Katherine Ortwig; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Michael; and two brothers, Frederick and Samuel Ortwig.
