Bernard J. Buse, age 91, of Radisson, WI passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, MN.

Bernard Joseph Buse was born June 27, 1921 in Millerville, MN the son of Ruduloph and Lillian (Botzet) Buse. He graduated from high school and then joined the U.S. Army on February 2, 1943 and served during World War II. Bernard J. Buse, age 91, of Radisson, WI passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, MN.

Bernard Joseph Buse was born June 27, 1921 in Millerville, MN the son of Ruduloph and Lillian (Botzet) Buse. He graduated from high school and then joined the U.S. Army on February 2, 1943 and served during World War II. Joseph earned the European, African, and Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon for his time in service to his country and then was honorably discharged on January 24, 1946. On November 24, 1947 Bernard was joined in marriage to Rosemary A. Stoltz in Dubuque, IA. Bernard went to work at a machine shop in Richland Center, WI and eventually took a job with Aircraft Parts Mfg Co. in La Crosse, WI. He worked his way up the positions at the shop and eventually purchased the business. He owned and operated Aircraft Parts Mfg Co. until 1978 when he sold the business. He earlier purchased Blueberry Lake Resort near Radisson, WI. Bernard sold the resort and retired to his home at Blueberry Lake. Bernard enjoyed hunting and hunting trips out west, going fishing, making his own fishing flies and lures and was widely known for his extensive, immaculate garden. He was a past commander of the American Legion Post 336 in Onalaska, WI and was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Radisson. He will be remembered as a father figure to many friends in the Radisson community.

Bernard is survived by his daughter, Janet and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosemary; two sisters, Irene and Elaine and foster son John Dowell.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Bernard at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 9, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Radisson. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Interment will be in the Radisson Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Wisconsin State Military Funeral Honors Program.
