Arlene Lois Brandt age 86, of Hayward, WI died peacefully on Friday, February 10, 2012 at Waters Edge Care Center in Hayward, WI.

Arlene was born August 22, 1925 in Glidden, WI the daughter of George and Bertha Eineichner. She graduated from Glidden High School in 1941. She then moved to the Lost Land/Teal Lake area to work at Ross' Teal Lake Lodge. It was there that she met George Brandt and they were married on September 2, 1947. George and Arlene owned and operated Lost Land Lake Lodge from 1948 to 1970. They...

Arlene Lois Brandt age 86, of Hayward, WI died peacefully on Friday, February 10, 2012 at Waters Edge Care Center in Hayward, WI.

Arlene was born August 22, 1925 in Glidden, WI the daughter of George and Bertha Eineichner. She graduated from Glidden High School in 1941. She then moved to the Lost Land/Teal Lake area to work at Ross' Teal Lake Lodge. It was there that she met George Brandt and they were married on September 2, 1947. George and Arlene owned and operated Lost Land Lake Lodge from 1948 to 1970. They raised three children, Susan, Michael and Joan.

After leaving the resort, Arlene was successfully engaged in an antique and collectible business for nine years in Hayward. She was actively involved in public service to the community, which included nine years on the board of education for Hayward Community Schools, six years as supervisor on the Spider Lake Town Board, and four years as supervisor on the Round Lake Town Board. She was elected to the Sawyer County Board of Supervisors in 1978 and served until 2004.

Arlene enjoyed playing cards, golfing and being with her family. She was a member of the Spider Lake Church. She was a tremendous cook, a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed by many.

Arlene is survived by her three children, Susan (Dan) Witt of Hayward, Michael (Janet) Brandt of Hayward, Joan (Bruce) Shumway of Drummond, WI; grandchildren, Julie (David) Arnett of Hayward, Brandt (Sara) Lee of Hayward, Megan (Joe Levitt) Lee of St. Paul, MN; great grandchildren, Kinesha, Marshall, Brandt Jr., Jason, Brandalee and Ruby.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; sister, Jackie; and son-in-law, Robert.
